Inventory Management

The inventory management ability of MDS ensures it is one of the most flexible and powerful distribution systems available today. Features include:-

Stock can be held in multiple warehouses at optimum levels to maximise customer service.

Each inventory item may be assigned alternate part numbers, suppliers and supplier parts (which may be EDI specific). Any item can then be found using it’s main number, the supplier’s number, it’s barcode number, category or its description.

Inventory files can be divided into strategic categories and classes to facilities customer discount numbers for ease of control and reporting; with special categories established for non-inventory, irregular stock items, manufactured items or temporary parts.

The cost price of an item may be kept as full average, fixed cost, last in cost (stock is revalued at the last received cost) or first in first out (FIFO).

MDS supports both serial number and batch lot tracking.

Standard reports are provided to track safety stock levels, items overstocked or those that need to be replenished based on sales averages and lead times.
